Just a quick hack.

If a package does not compile under IRIX 6.2, but did work IRIX 5.3,
then it often works to configure the package as IRIX 5.3 and then go
ahead with the compilation. One could do something like this:

        ./configure mips-sgi-irix5.3 ; make all

This will force configure into thinking that this is IRIX 5.3 rather
than trying to find out for itself.

It will of course be harder/impossible to exploit 6.2 specific stuff,
but if the goal is merely to get something up and running, then it is
usually good enough.
