xscheme (graphical debugger) broken?

I am trying to come up to speed with STk and need some debugging tools. I'm
using STk 2.1.6 and wanted to try xscheme. I had run it with a previous
version of STk (2.1.?) and it seemed o.k. if a bit unstable. Anyhow
trying it now I get:

WARNING: "utility" was not provided

*** Error:
load: Bad string: break
STk>

Changing (require 'utility) to (require "utility") etc. gets rid of the
warnings but other problems surface. Obviously I don't know enough to fix
it. Has someone already fixed it? If not what debugging alternatives are
there? Anything like the perl debugger (i.e. "perl -d file")? I've scanned
the mailing list archives, read the Reference manual - where to next?

Thanks for any assistance.
