I agree. It'll be more flexible.

Sometimes I need to install an extension module to a few different
architectures (Linux, IRIX and Solaris), and STk is installed
in different paths on them, so I needed the path to install
extensions as well as compiler options. I'll go on experimenting
to see what features are required.
