STk-3.1 eating all available processor cycles!

I have been noticing that the version of STk that I compiled around
July 25 (v3.1) eats up machine time when it ought to be idle. I am
running a Debian 1.1 GNU/Linux system (kernel 2.0.0) and compiled stk
with GCC v2.7.2.l.3.

When I start stk by itself, with top running in an adjacent xterm, it
quickly jumps to the top of the list based on %CPU even when it is
just sitting at the STk> prompt. Is anyone else seeing this?

Thanks!
