bind methods for canvas(items)

Hi,

Question:
Why do none of the bind methods on a canvas update the 'bindings slot?

Is there something wrong with this? Have I missed something? For context,
I am currently trying to write a method "bind-for-drawing" which would
be closely modelled on "bind-for-dragging" but useful for developing, say,
a drawing package --- (Has anyone already done this??)
