trouble with MAKE-CLIENT-SOCKET on Windows 98

I've been experimenting with STk's networking capabilities, and have found
what appears to be a bug: Although MAKE-CLIENT-SOCKET works fine on Linux
and Windows NT, it always fails on my Windows 98 machine. When I evaluate
this expression:

   (make-client-socket "www.yahoo.com" 80)

a dialog box with this message pops up:

   *** Error:

   make-client-socket: cannot open osfhandle

Have you heard of this bug before? Is there a known fix?

By the way, thank you, Erick, for writing STk and making it available. It
looks great for constructing nice-looking, portable user interfaces. I
want to build a GUI for a program I'm working on, and STk looks like just
the right Scheme for that. Thanks.
